5 Hours in Venice

Staying just outside of Venice in a campsite meant that the trip to Venice took nearly an hour by car and boat so regrettably we only managed to get to Venice just once and spent a quick afternoon there.

With such a short amount of time in Venice itself we mostly spent the time looking around the shops, site seeing and generally walking around trying to take in the beauty of such an amazing place.

5 must do’s in Venice when your time is limited.

1 – A definite must do whilst in Venice is to look in the shops that sell the masks, they are such a popular part of life in Venice that you can barely turn a corner without seeing the most beautifully crafted masks.

2 – It’s something we never actually got time to do and that is to take a ride on one of the romantic gondolas. They are typically the must do of visiting Venice especially when travelling with a loved one.

3 – Eating ice cream whilst Venice is just a given really. There is an ice cream parlour round every corner and they all seem to serve similar flavours but my personal favourite was the strawberry cheesecake.

4 – Wandering around the main and back streets of Venice taking in the sights was truly my favourite thing to do, especially with such a short amount of time there, I just wanted to soak it all up.

5 – Well I’ve obviously saved the best till last. What else could you really do after a hard day walking around such a large place…Eat Pasta! I love food and there is not much else I prefer than tucking into a lasagne or Carbonara and it definitely wasn’t tough to find in Venice.

Don’t wait, life goes a lot faster than you think …
