The Catacombs of Paris

The Catacombs of Paris lay 20 metres beneath the very heart of the City and contain the remains of millions of Parisians.

The remains were transferred underground when graveyards were closed because of the risk they posed to public health.

Walk through 2 kilometres of the Catacombs on a very unique tour which will be completely different to anything you have ever experienced before.

The atmosphere is extremely eerie and it almost doesn’t seem real that what lays before you is the bones of 6-7 million Parisians.

The tour in total will take around 45 minutes and the temperature down there sits at a steady 14 degrees Celsius so it is advisable to wear an extra layer, especially if you have arrived in the summer where temperatures are much higher outside.

I advise you to buy the tickets online before visiting as this will dramatically cut your queuing time. We had booked a 5pm slot and were able to enter right on time with no delay; however the queue to buy tickets must have been more than 2 hours.

This is an experience not to be missed.
